MBA

song I chose: "dry your eyes" by sean kingston. I ve attached the link, plz click here. (Right click and open in new tab)

here goes the lyrics (only take note of the bolded italic parts):

Mommy just dry your eyes, mommy don't you cry
I know we've been through hard times and the struggles
And I just wanna tell you I love you

[Verse 1]
Only 15 put under pressure
First month 27th day, They took away my mother
I was left to be raised by my brother
Taught to be a hustler
Mommy gone gotta stick together
Stay strong through the stormy weather
Became a top seller, look how we stacking this cheddar
When you jump mommy life would be better
Just like Rihanna you can stand under my umbrella

[Hook:]
You know how to make me better
Even when we lose our cheddar
Even through the stormy weather
You hold me down

[Chorus:]
Mommy just dry your eyes, mommy don't you cry
I know we've been through hard times and the struggles
And I just wanna tell you I love you
[X2]

[Verse 2]
17 got a little money
Feeling kinda blue
Cause it's looking like you doing 10 to 20
Riding being broke ain't funny
It's hard being hungry
But I'm gonna keep hustling for my mommy
Until I get rich like puffy
Never had a plan B
You said I can be all I can be
Some day I'm gonna buy you Miami
So when I win my Grammy
You coming cause I do this for my family

[Hook]

[Chorus]
Mommy just dry your eyes, mommy don't you cry
I know we've been through hard times and the struggles
And I just wanna tell you I love you
[X2]

[Bridge]
17 now my mommy's gone
Can't wait till she come back home
Missing her face like dust till dawn, while she went away
Never think it be so long
I feel like crying while I'm writing this song
Can't wait till that day come on
When she leave the place

[Speaking]
Hey what's up mom, how you doing?
It's been about 2 years since I saw your face
I miss you like crazy
Know the money orders, the pre-paid costs
Being on my own
No Knee Kurt Canino
But I love you though
This for you

[Chorus]
Mommy just dry your eyes, mommy don't you cry
I know we've been through hard times and the struggles
And I just wanna tell you I love you
[X2]

yes, i'm right..... focus only on the bolded italic parts......
yeah this song seriously fits me, look at the lyrics (yeah of course some parts are totally untrue about my mum). My mum seriously has been through hard times.....

My mum left for Singapore since I was only around 3.... She was not those kind of mum whom people in singapore call "pei du ma ma"(these mothers come to singapore together with their son or daughter, they are just holding on to work permit and their child is always holding on to student pass, neither of them can apply for PR until the child is 18, those mothers are paid at low costs for certain jobs, they just come to allow their child to be able to study in singapore, life can be hard for them)

She worked in the day and went to school at night, with hardly long hours of sleep and rest...(she is studying a course necessary for immigrants who wants to be a kindergarten teacher, imagine the homework she has to do........) She earnt very little that time, not higher than $600, instant noodle became her main food........

So what was that for????? Leaving her own son at 3...... Suffering daily..... Getting lethargic easily..... Few holidays....... SHE DID IT ALL FOR ME!!! FOR ME!!!! She thought far and planned everthing ahead, she wanted me to receive English education, she wanted me to live well and have a bright future, Singapore was her choice.... So she took on the role, spending her "sparkling" age working like crazy.... With her strong will-power to keep on moving on......

She continued working and studying like that for around 6-7 years, yes..... that long..... Eventually, she became a teacher in Kinderland, and the school applied her PR, she became a Permenent Resident, and immediately she applied me here, I landed in Singapore in Dec 2004, beginning my new life journey till now.........

That was not the end, she had been worrying for my English, thus she borrowed papers, bought loads of assessments, spent her time after work marking my scripts.... 2 years later, she bought a new house in the HDB flat. Since then, she has been waking up at 6 and returns only after 9 almost everyday! Except for teaching in kindergarten, she teaches students outside just like a tuition teacher, earning money to pay the house and for the both of us...... Don't forget, she is only a woman........

I decided that this is the song once I saw the 1st line, how many times she cried behind me, how many times she dried her eyes, how long and hard she sruggled......... I wonder....... I really want to say I love you, I always wanted..... Those few lines reflected everything about my feelings towards my mum, bringing back my mum's story to my mind.....

That day will come, when my mum "stand under my umbrella", I will take on the role to protect her, to provide her what she lost.........

Dry your eyes, mum, I'm here, always here........

I think I know what your mom would like from you: forget Puffy, Rhianna, Kurt et al. All she really wants is for you to succeed in school and make a way for yourself. The need for a good education and what it has done for her and by extension will do for you are definitely her goals for her son. This is a nice tribute and I don't feel compelled to remind you not to forget what your mom has done for you. I think you will pay her back...just study hard and get those grades! Enjoyed reading your blog over the course of the year. 8/10

A very touching analysis, describing the close relationship you have with her and how you can actually feel her love for you, weathering through countless hardships to support you as a child. Well done overall.

Just a note, the numerous eclipses and exclamation and question marks proved to be a distraction at times. Just something to help you improve on when you write in the future.

7-8/10 (:
